Story Hour

The weekly reading program is free of charge and open to children from birth to 5 year old. It runs during the school year from September through May. Story time begins at 10:30 AM and continues until approximately 11:15 AM.  Come join the fun with Miss Ellen.

Weekly story time will end in mid-May so we can prepare for the summer programs.

TumbleBook Library

tumblebookslibraryThe TumbleBookLibrary is a collection of TumbleBooks(animated, talking picture books) with fiction, non-fiction and foreign language titles, Read-Alongs (chapter books with sentence highlighting and narration but no animation),TumbleTVwhich consists of pre-set playlists of a sequence of books, and Tumble Puzzles & Games.

TumbleBooks are created from existing picture books which are licensed from children’s book publishers and converted to the TumbleBook format. Click here to use Tumblebooks Library.

20th     The Goofy Kooky Magic & Music Show with guest performer Chris Johnson — Kick-off program in the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center!                         (PreK-Grade 6)

27th   Ring a Bell! Play in a handbell choir! (Gmeiner)                          (PreK)

Design Your Own Guitar with library staff Paint and add other embellishments! (Under portico if weather permits — wear old clothes.)            (Grades K-6)

**28th (Thursday) 7:00pm Concert: 3D Homespun music on a wide variety of instruments by local musicians Dave Driskell, Dave Milano, and Daria Guelig. (On front porch; please bring a blanket or lawn chair.) (All Ages invited)


4th     No Summer Library Program Happy 4th of July! (Library is closed)

11th    Arts for All with Julie Schlosser — An exciting, hands-on experience with a local board-certified music therapist. (Library’s Main Room)                     (PreK-Grade 6)

**12th (Thursday) 6:00pm         Puppet Music Rehearsal — Come be a musical puppeteer! (Library’s Main Room) (PreK-Grade 6)

   The Summer Quest Prize Drawing  (preschoolers & children in grades K-6)

 Read library materials, come to the Wednesday morning programs, attend library events, and/or complete other summer activity ideas from your Summer Quest Ticket Booklet to get entry tickets!

 Reminder: we are no longer counting reading minutes for the preK-6th grade Summer Library Program!

Youth Collections

  • The Children’s Room houses books for preschoolers through second graders. Some DVDs, multimedia kits, and music are also available. The train set, activity center, and other hands-on materials are also found in this location.
  • The Robinson Room has two computers with educational software available for children ages 10 and under.
  • Nonfiction and fiction books for juveniles and young adults are in separate locations in the Robinson Room. Some audiobooks are also available for these ages groups.
  • DVDs and videos for youth are available in the Main Room of the library.
